Join us for Chinese for Affirmative Action’s 54th Anniversary Celebration of Justice gala, on Friday, June 9, 2023 at the Palace hotel in downtown San Francisco.
The Celebration of Justice brings together community leaders, activists, and organizational partners to celebrate and renew our commitment to social justice. As our largest annual fundraiser, it provides vital resources to help CAA continue to build on our core strategies to bring positive change to the lives of many.
For representing and uplifting the voices and experiences of African and Afro-Caribbean immigrants, and ensuring an intersectional and diverse approach to immigrant justice in San Francisco and beyond.
Executive Director of the Community Youth Center, for her steadfast leadership, for supporting youth and their families to realize their full human potential and for addressing community safety issues centering the holistic needs of survivors.
For their outstanding and pioneering philanthropic leadership in the field of immigrant rights and social justice and for honoring the dignity and interconnection of all human beings.
Stay tuned. We will be releasing more information about our featured talent shortly.
Jeff Chang’s first book Can't Stop Won't Stop: A History of the Hip-Hop Generation, was named one of the best nonfiction books of the last quarter century by Slate. Total Chaos: The Art and Aesthetics of Hip-Hop, Who We Be: A Cultural History of Race in Post Civil Rights America, and We Gon' Be Alright: Notes On Race and Resegregation. His next project is a cultural biography of Bruce Lee called Water Mirror Echo: Bruce Lee and the Making of Asian America (Mariner/HarperCollins). Considered a national expert in narrative strategy and cultural equity, he was the first Vice President of Narrative, Arts, and Culture at Race Forward where he led the Butterfly Lab for Immigrant Narrative Strategy
