One of the highlights of our year is when we get to break bread with our community for the Winter Solstice (冬至) — or in this case, make some tasty, savory tang yuan!
Staff members and volunteers arrived early on Sunday morning to the Chinatown YMCA to prepare food for our neighbors. We filled pots to the brim with cabbages, mushrooms, Chinese sausage, and of course, tang yuan!
As we gathered, we also took the time to reflect on CAA’s work in 2025. It’s been a particularly challenging year, with ICE raids and the loss of SNAP benefits destabilizing so many of our communities. And yet, people still show up for each other. We protect our neighbors, our families, and the immigrants who are an integral part of our city.
This Winter Solstice, as we brace for the harsh seasons ahead, we’re asking for your support. Will you make a gift to help us continue defending our neighbors and building a safer, more just future for all?
