Background:
In his first 30 days in office, President Joe Biden has brought the issue of immigration to the forefront of his political and legislative agenda: reviewing and overturning some of the controversial 400+ immigration-related executive actions signed by former President Donald Trump and introducing to the House and Senate the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021 which if successful, would be the most comprehensive immigration reform package passed since 1986.
During this virtual press event, hosted by Chinese for Affirmative Action, a panel of experienced legal advocates and immigration activists will review the implications of Biden’s first month in office for immigrant communities nationwide and, more specifically, for Asian and Pacific Islander communities in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. Discussion topics will include the now re-established DACA program, the future of the so-called public charge rule and its impact, and changes to naturalization, family-based immigration, and more.
