Take Action: Tell the U.S. Census to count AAPI communities!

Trump is trying to erase people of color and immigrants from the 2030 Census — and we need your help to stop him. If his proposed Census changes go through, they will dilute Asian American and Pacific Islander political power and punish immigrant communities.

We must ensure everyone is represented and counted! Join us by personalizing and submitting an individual public comment using our template.

What’s happening?
On September 10, 2026, the Census Bureau announced proposed changes that would:

  • exclude noncitizens from the decennial count (and only count U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents)
  • eliminate the collection of race and ethnicity data
  • prohibit the collection of sexual orientation information

What’s at stake?
The Census determines how many representatives each state has in Congress and how federal funds are distributed.

The Census also provides valuable data to inform policy decisions that impact public health, education, emergency services, and more.

The law is clear: the Census must count ALL individuals residing in the United States every ten years.

But Trump and his allies are trying to change the rules to steal congressional seats from our communities and advance his authoritarian agenda.

These changes will lead to a significant undercount of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander families, people of color, and immigrant communities across the U.S.

We will lose political representation at the federal, state, and local level. And AAPI communities stand to lose up to $2.8 trillion in federal funds that are distributed based on Census data. These changes would make it impossible to enforce civil rights and voting rights laws.

Take action today: Tell the Census that Asian American and Pacific Islander communities will not be erased.

The Census has to read and respond to every comment — so let’s flood their inboxes. Submit by November 2 at 5pm PST.
